Minimalist room tour
People say that a clean room leads to a clear mind, and I couldn't agree more. Keeping my bedroom tidy, organized, and simple allows me to come back from a busy day feeling much more calm and rested. I do find that the cleanliness and state of my room is a clear reflection of my personality and also indicates how I'm currently doing inside -- just so happened that I'm writing this post with a much cleaner room and mind that is ready to share a little tour with you all!
Since graduating from college, I moved back to my family's home. All the furniture I've had since I was a child, perhaps around 5 years old, so I'm making do with what I have and doing my best to keep it looking neat and cleaned up for practicality's sake. I must say though, I probably have the best room in the house due to my massive bay window (and I feel quite lucky myself!) which offers natural lighting to wake me up in the morning. Keeping it simple with the walls bare also keeps the room feeling larger and cleaner than usual.
On my desk, there's a few books I thought I'd share. Still working through quite a few of them (I'm really slow when it comes to finding time to read), but from what I've read so far, I'd definitely recommend! Many of these books are also Christian reads and I'm always looking to challenge myself to grow spiritually. Others are just for fun like Hamilton (going to see the musical in 2 days!) and the plastic-free book by Beth Terry:
My closet isn't the most extraordinary looking thing either, but I've managed to make do with used shoeboxes and old gift bags and boxes to organize and categorize my belongings. All the hangers in my wardrobe were also bought used off of craigslist and are used for the majority of my wardrobe. The rest of my underwear, socks, pj's and such are folded and stacked in a small cart on the side. Perhaps you'll find some inspiration from what's currently in my closet, who knows? (:
I hope this post gives you some sense of cleanliness, peace, and simplicity in the midst of a busy busy world. Thanks for reading, watching, and following me along this journey of living more simply and sustainably friends!
